A Flat file output can be configured to be generated as a text file with continuous text and can be sent to a shared drive ready for processing by an external system.
From the right-hand screen double-click on the Define Communication to Resource/Work Centres option.
Select the change icon.
Select 'New Entries'.
Enter the work center that will use the method being configured if known. 'f4' is supported to search for the work center, the work center must exist on the system to be selectable and configurable.
Select the Com Method: 'Flat File' The ‘Logical File’ field will become active and requires a value to be entered. The logical file is linked to a Flat File schema that contains all the required fields.
Back out and save the current screen configuration. The logical file is linked to a Flat File schema that contains all the required fields this will need to be created.
double-click the 'Flat File Schema' option on the left hand menu.
and select the plant, double click on the Flat File Schemas folder and select ‘New entry’, enter a Flat File Schema name and a short description.
Select ‘Enter’ then ‘Save’ to confirm values.
Select the new Schema detail and double click the child folder of the ‘Flat File Schema’ folder named ‘Fields’.
Enter the field values that are required to be in the flat file output.
Select ‘Enter’ and ‘Save’ to confirm and update entries once complete.
Selecting ‘Execute’ will create the output file.
Navigate to the destination folder.
view the document.
The configured in the output file fields should now be displayed as content.
Select ‘Enter’ to confirm and save values. To complete the process the created ‘Schema’ must be associated with the logical file name.
Double click on the ‘Assign FF Schema to Logical Filename’ folder. The screen will display the values required on the right hand of the screen.
Enter the logical **filename and enter the flat file ‘Schema’ created in the previous steps. **This is created with SAP using transaction 'FILE'.
Select ‘Enter’ and ‘Save’ to update and confirm entered values. As flat files are not automatically generated to the destination system or server, transaction ‘/TCTCC/GENERATE_FF’ is used to collate all the data and output to the previously configured destination folder.
Enter the configured ‘logical File’. Selecting the ‘include column headers’ option will add these values to the top of the output when generated.
