v5.8.0 release notes

Here are the enhancements, updates and bug fixes made in PreBilt IM/WM/StRM v5.8.0.

Pager New “Simple” barcode type and enhanced decode sequencing

A new barcode type “Simple” has been introduced, together with enhanced decode sequencing logic.

More info...

New Barcode Type: “Simple”

The new barcode type “Simple” is designed for decoding barcode strings that are not of a fixed overall length.

It:

  • Strips the AIM symbology prefix

  • Supports optional fixed-length decoding for leading fields

  • Allows the final field to contain variable-length data

  • Shares configuration with the existing Fixed Length setup table

To configure a Simple barcode:

  • Define barcode type “S”

  • Maintain field mappings in the same table used for Fixed Length

  • Do not define an overall barcode length

  • Leave the final field without a fixed length

This allows flexible decoding where the final data element may vary in length.

Enhanced Decode Sequence Logic

Barcode decoding behaviour has been enhanced so that:

  • The system now processes all barcode definitions within the warehouse sequence

  • Decoding no longer stops after the first successful decode

  • All valid decodes are evaluated before determining the final value

Where multiple barcode definitions match:

  • The system selects the first value in the sequence that matches the required SAP Application Identifier

  • The sequence therefore remains important, but is now used for prioritisation rather than early termination

This enhancement improves support for scenarios where:

  • Multiple barcode types share the same prefix

  • Fixed and Simple barcode definitions coexist

  • GS1 and non-GS1 formats may overlap in structure

For more information see the barcode decoding functionality.

Earth in hand, Europe and Africa Enhanced stock-on-hand display

General Posting now supports accurate display of stock-on-hand quantities in the INPUT_xxxx_ITEM screen when sufficient information is available to uniquely determine a stock record.

More info...

The app can now determine and display the available stock quantity when the full stock key has been provided, including:

  • Material

  • Batch (if applicable)

  • Plant

  • Storage location

  • Special stock type and number

  • Stock status (derived from the selected movement type)

  • WM storage type and bin (where applicable)

Where this combination uniquely identifies a stock “quant”, the relevant available quantity and unit of measure will be displayed automatically.

This enhancement supports:

  • IM stock (MB52 level)

  • IM Multi-Bin (IMB) stock

  • WM quant-level stock

The logic now consistently determines which stock source to use depending on configuration and context.

Different General Posting variants require different AMD configuration:

Standalone General Posting

Use:

  • MB52-MENGE

  • MB52-MEINS

to display IM stock based on values entered in INPUT_xxxx_MATERIAL.

For WM and IMB:

  • Add LQUA-LGPLA (bin)

  • Add LQUA-LGTYP (storage type, WM only)

When these are populated, the system will display the corresponding WM or IMB stock in:

  • ORIG_QNT

  • ORIG_UOM (with field class /TCTM/WM_APP_513_FIELDS)

Jump transactions

Use:

  • ORIG_QNT

  • ORIG_UOM

Together with field class:

/TCTM/WM_APP_513_FIELDS

This will display:

  • IM stock for IM-managed locations

  • IMB bin-level stock

  • WM quant-level stock

Reservation transactions

Use:

  • MB52-MENGE

  • MB52-MEINS

Together with field class:

/TCTM/WM_APP_513_FIELDS

Reservation transactions display IM stock only, as bin-level detail is not available prior to INPUT_xxxx_ITEM.

Stock determination logic across IM, WM and IMB has been aligned so that:

  • A single stock record is correctly identified where possible

  • Movement-type-derived stock status is respected

  • MB52 and LQUA data handling is consistent across variants

This ensures accurate quantity display and supports features such as MOVE_ALL.

Articulated lorry MOVE_ALL enhancement for General Postings

The AMD element MOVE_ALL can now be configured on the INPUT_xxxx_ITEM screen to allow full available stock to be used automatically for basket processing or posting.

More info...

MOVE_ALL can be configured using field class /TCTM/WM_APP_513_FIELDS .

The visibility and behaviour of related fields are now dynamically controlled:

  • MOVE_ALL is only available where a valid stock quantity (ORIG_QNT) exists

  • ORIG_QNT and ORIG_UOM are displayed only when relevant

  • Where no original stock record is found, MOVE_ALL and related stock fields are automatically suppressed

This provides clearer screen behaviour and avoids unnecessary user input in scenarios where full stock movement is not applicable.

Muscle Further updates and enhancements

Base Framework

  • Improved F4 lookup behaviour for TEXT and DDIC entries when switching between DISPLAY and CHANGE modes in the AMD popup window.

  • Transaction /TCTM/WM_TEXTID_RPT has been enhanced to report on AMD entries that contain blank values.

  • The text ID report has been enhanced to allow updating of AMD entries using TEXT IDs (as maintained in transaction _GLOBAL_DEFAULTS), DDIC entries, or free text. The required entry should be maintained in the “Text/DDIC” column of the upload spreadsheet.

  • Logon screen texts are now translatable via text overrides maintained in transaction _GLOBAL_DEFAULTS using text IDs in the range G01 to G48.

  • Error messages “Required” and “Error found in input data” have been converted to text IDs in transaction _GLOBAL_DEFAULTS and are now translatable.

  • Transaction /TCTM/WM_LICENSE has been enhanced to display the current release version running in the system.

Goods Receipt External

  • Document capture now supports images for inbound deliveries.

  • The GR app now supports document-type-specific selection fields in the AMD for all document types. This capability has been extended to inbound (IBD, INB) and outbound (OBD) deliveries.

  • Improved handling of stock status entries in the basket to ensure the entered stock status displays correctly.

  • Enhanced outbound delivery selection process to ensure consistent data retrieval.

Stock Movements

  • The batch verification field is now automatically suppressed for non-batch-managed materials.

  • The app now supports bin verification during stock viewing.

  • The Change Bin feature now supports bins with sectioning. An available bin section is selected automatically, or a suitable message is displayed if no sections are available.

  • Zero quantity confirmations now use a dedicated ZERO_QTY/ZERO_QTY_IN flag. When zero quantity is selected, material and batch verification requirements are automatically bypassed, as no product is present for verification. Refer to the configuration section of the app for further details.

Stock Enquiry

  • The selection AMD now supports the use of either functional field names or technical field names.

  • When returning to the Stock Enquiry list after posting in General Postings, the stock list is automatically refreshed to reflect the updated stock position.

Physical Inventory

  • Selection using field IRNUM is now fully supported.

  • Selection fields for the “planned” PI app transactions now support the use of technical field names where preferred.

  • The planned IM PI app now supports sorting of items using fields within the MARD and IKPF segments (for example, MARD-LGPBE or IKPF-INVNU).

  • For partially counted PI documents, all relevant items are now displayed upon selection.

  • The AMD fields and configuration sets within the app transactions have been standardised to provide a consistent look and feel.

  • When the zero count flag is selected, material and batch verification steps are automatically bypassed.

  • Basket handling in the multi-item ad hoc IM PI app has been enhanced to improve stability during connectivity fluctuations.

  • Performance and compatibility optimisations have been implemented for operation on the Neptune platform.

General Postings

  • Selection screen allows choosing both items marked as "Final Issue" and those not .

  • For goods receipt of production/process orders, additional fields are now available on the selection screen to help you filter and select orders.

  • Reservation processing for goods issue to orders now support special stock being copied from the reservation.

  • The number of items in a reservation can now be displayed in the Reservation List screen for the reservation relevant app transactions (PB2_GEN_POSTING_RESV, PB2_GEN_POSTING_PP, PB2_GEN_POST_RES_IMB) using field RSPOS_COUNT in the AMD.

  • "Reason for Movement" field added to app transactions on INPUT_CANDOC_ITEM so you can, well, record the reason for the movement.

  • If working with SAP WM storage bin field LGPLA, it is now possible to choose in the AMD whether that bin input should be the actual bin number or the verification code for the bin. Assigning the field class /TCTM/WM_APP_513_FIELDS to the field in INPUT_xxxx_MATERIAL or INPUT_xxxx_ITEM will require the entry to be the verification code.

  • Improved selection process for already cancelled material documents in the Display Material Documents and Cancel Material Document features.

  • The correct text ID is mapped to the title of the INPUT_xxxx_ITEM screen.

  • The AMD fields within the app transactions and the configuration sets within each app transaction have been standardised to give a consistent look and feel.

  • The Reason for Movement Code description is now included together with the code in the field display in General posting Display Material Document screens.

  • Material document header fields (such as posting date and header text) can now be entered directly on the item input screen (INPUT_xxx_ITEM) and used for immediate posting, without navigating to the input post screen (INPUT_xxx_POST). This functionality is not available when adding items to the basket; any header data entered in this scenario will be ignored.

  • The posting date field PSTNG_DATE can be added to the INPUT_****_ITEM screens so that a date in the past can be entered on the screen and the item added to the basket. This does not store the date entered in the basket - it is only a way to allow items to be added to the basket.

Picking and Packing

  • Open transfer order quantities in delivery item list screens now correctly convert to the sales unit used in the delivery.

  • Picking app transactions now support special stock predetermined in the delivery.

Plant Maintenance

  • When an error message is closed, the app remains on the “Confirm Operation” screen.

  • Personnel number handling has been refined to improve consistency and management.

  • Work center validation messages have been enhanced for clarity.

  • Error message handling has been streamlined for improved consistency.

  • The equipment list now displays unique entries only.

  • Navigation from component to Goods Issue is fully supported.

  • Short and long texts now prepopulate when creating a Work Order from a notification.

  • Long text functionality has been fully enabled to support multi-language entry.

App usage report

  • Transaction /TCTM/WM_APP_USAGE now supports deletion of records from the App Usage Log table using the same selection criteria as display. Authorisation should be restricted, as deleted records cannot be recovered. The report can also be scheduled as a batch job for periodic deletion.

  • The app transaction description is now displayed alongside the transaction code.

  • Usage logging enhancements include:

    • Capture of transfer order item number upon TO confirmation.

    • Enhanced error logging detail.

    • Accurate capture of delivery type for logged delivery goods issues.

    • Inclusion of the PreBilt release number in the report header.

QM results recording

  • Improvements made to the screen flow and control when entering results and when going from Results Recording back to the Inspection Lot Enquiry app.

QM usage decision

  • Initial support has been introduced for posting multiple stock quantities alongside the usage decision for inspection lots in unrestricted stock. Support for QI stock will follow in a future release.

  • Navigation between Usage Decision and Results Recording now consistently passes the Inspection Lot number.

  • Material description display has been stabilised across scenarios.
