v5.6.0 release notes

Here are the enhancements, updates and bug fixes made in PreBilt IM/WM/StRM v5.6.0.

Laundry basket Multi-item baskets for adhoc IM counting

New functionality has been added to the Physical Inventory app for adhoc IM counting, meaning that you can now add multiple items to your basket before posting them all in to relevant PI documents, saving time when doing your counts.

More info...

This functionality is obtained through new transaction PB2_PI_ADHOC_IM_MI.

Items are added to a basket as they are counted and then inventory documents are created and counted at the end when the operator “posts” the results.

For materials with serial number control, there are two options:

  • Jump to the serial number app to enter multiple serial numbers at once. This is controlled by adding the serial number transaction to CALL_TRANSACTION configuration element in the AMD.

  • Count serial numbers individually, with each count representing a quantity of one.

Intuitive navigation using SmartScan

Apps featuring SmartScan have always been able to decode complex codes, entering data in to on screen fields by simply scanning a barcode with your RF device. It is now possible to set a default action in AMD so that, for example, moving to the next screen, can happen right after decoding the barcode, making the apps more efficient to use.

More info...

To set the SmartScan field to complete a default action as well as decoding the barcode, the SmartScan field should be placed at the bottom of the screen via the transaction's AMD. For example, in SELECT_OPTS:

Using SmartScan will then trigger the default action selected in SELECT_OPTS_ACTIONS when it is used. In this example, it will use 'Select' button to advance to the next screen automatically.

Boomerang Receipt of customer returns

The Goods Receipt app has been enhanced to manage the receipt of customer returns.

More info...

Receipt of customer returns has been added so the standard Goods Receipt transaction PB2_GR_EXT.

If the selection criteria entered on the initial screen matches a return, 'Returns' will be available for selection on the list screen (as above).

All items on the return have to be fully receipted before a material document can be posted. For more information, head to the Goods Receipt User Guide.

Outbox Improved movement type selection for STO receipt

When processing goods receipts for inbound or outbound stock transport order (STO) deliveries, the movement type had previously been hardcoded in to PreBilt. This has been updated so that the movement type is now consistently derived from the STO document, ensuring more accurate and reliable posting behavior and reducing the risk of errors in inventory tracking.

Locked Standard batch verification

Batch verification is now a standard configuration element in AMD, allowing teams to tailor the process to their needs while ensuring the system remains intuitive by only showing relevant fields.

More info...

If the material being counted is not batch-managed, the batch verification field is automatically hidden but the material and batch verification fields can also be manually hidden by delivery teams if needed via AMD.

The field ISEG-CHARG or LINV-CHARG_VERIF (as pictured) can be used to manage batch verification.

Reservation number automatically populated

General Postings now includes logic (in the app field class) to automatically populate the reservation number and reservation item on the screen when processing orders, ensuring better material availability, streamlined inventory management, and reduced manual errors for more efficient order processing.

More info...

The solution has been designed to work with the technical reservation field names of RSNUM and RSPOS (which should be used in the required AMD of configuration elements INPUT_xxxx_ITEM, LIST_xxxx_BASKET and INPUT_xxxx_BASKET).

Order selection improvements

We've made improvements to order selection in the General Postings app to assist with the reservation processing of Production, Network, Maintenance and Process orders, so that you can improve your search by selecting orders based on order type and order category.

More info...

Table CAUFV has replaced the previously used AUKO and CRHD (both of which have been removed from the AMD) in the data selection as this table has order type and order category in it, allowing for selection by those fields.

Muscle Further updates and enhancements

Base Framework

  • We've standardised the format of core /TCTM/ transactions to better describe their purpose and make it easier to set-up and configure PreBilt.

  • Aligned structure definitions in get_warehouse_plants to match table row formats, improving consistency in plant and storage location data handling.

  • Search help for serials now returns single results when applicable.

  • Improved display of dropdown list entries to ensure that long values (over 100 characters) now show in full when associated with an application identifier.

  • Enhanced screen layout behavior in cases where only one field on a row has a defined length, leading to more consistent and even layouts.

Goods Receipt External

  • Streamlined real-time updates for purchase order item quantities, so that open and remaining values now update instantly without needing to log out and back in.

  • Improved the jump to Document Capture to work with outbound deliveries, inbound deliveries, and scheduling agreements, not just purchase orders.

Stock Movements

  • Addressed a scenario where quantity values could be lost if no destination screen was configured during the process.

  • Clarified error messaging when attempting to verify a non-existent EAN - users are now told it doesn’t exist, instead of being left guessing about their life choices.

  • Updated the selection and transfer flow to support Stock Category ‘U – Available Stock’ in AMD without triggering errors at transfer order creation.

  • Adjusted transfer order creation logic to better handle cases where a plant is maintained as a PID but is either missing from that PID or not included in the selection criteria.

  • Enabled source storage unit entry during TO confirmation for bulk SU picking, allowing for smoother processing in this scenario.

Physical Inventory

  • Gaps have been addressed in the selection criteria and the inclusion of special stock in both planned and ad hoc counts for IM and WM, where applicable, by additional special stock fields in AMD.

  • Aligned material number handling in BAPI_PHYSINV_COUNT_ITEMS for S/4 systems to support full length entries without truncation.

  • Ensured accurate IM stock on hand display on the INPUT_COUNT screen by factoring in both stock status and special stock where applicable.

  • Updated WM count difference logic to prevent errors when clearing counts after recording differences.

  • Refined serial number behavior so that only materials requiring mandatory serial number entry will prompt for it. Materials with optional serial numbers just ask nicely for a quantity instead.

Stock Enquiry

  • The app now controls the data extract and does not rely on any predefined variant being required in SAP where there might have previously be an issue with display variants in transaction MB52.

General Postings

  • Prevented incorrect availability checks when reversing "issuing" movements (e.g., 262) against a reservation.

  • Eliminated short-dump risk in S/4HANA by handling mismatched material field lengths during field assignment with more grace.

  • Ensured complete UOM list display for numeric material numbers by properly handling leading zeroes via an AMD conversion exit.

  • Streamlined transfer order flow by ensuring all necessary screens appear after transfer postings when storage location changes are made.

  • Smoothed transfer order creation when jumping from General Posting to Stock Movements for blocked or quality stock, ensuring quants are correctly identified.

Picking and Packing

  • It is now possible to display the Ship-to name on the item list or input screens using ADRC_WE-NAME1 or KNA1_WE-NAME1 in the AMD.

  • Fixed display issue with Open Qty when delivery items use an alternative unit of measure, preventing negative values from showing where they shouldn’t.

  • Prevented memory dumps when attempting to select a locked delivery by adding a check on the internal table to ensure there’s something left to select.

Document Capture

  • If capture modes are blank and images > 1 the app no longer progresses to the image display screen at all. No blank screen is shown.

Serial Numbers

  • Improved serial number jump behavior when only one matching serial number was found, ensuring a smoother transition without any extra hassle.

  • Ensured correct serial number updates during partial picks in IM Picking, making sure updates apply seamlessly across subsequent picks.

  • Only materials with mandatory serial numbers will trigger the jump from Physical Inventory apps.
