PSE Desktop

PreBilt Standalone Edition (PSE) download

triangle-exclamation

The latest PSE software package for the current release cersion can be downloaded from the TCT download portal, herearrow-up-right.

It is simplest to download the ZIP version that already includes the front-end configuration by downloading the file which includes ‘SAP UI5’ and the WM Base functionality as pictured below.

Each item can however also be downloaded individually if you already have some of the components.

Installation

Unzip the PSE that has been downloaded. You can move this file to somewhere organised as we will create a shortcut to your desktop in the next step for easier access in the future.

Right-click on "PreBilt_Desktop.exe" file that is in the folder and Send to > Desktop (create shortcut). This will create a shortcut to this instance of PreBilt Standalone on your desktop.

You can edit the shortcut name to include, for example, the system, and then use it to open the software.

Creating a profile

Before you can start using PreBilt you may need to create a profile as follows:

On the first opening you will be prompted to create a profile.

Alternatively if the file has been delivered with a default profile then just add a new one as appropriate and then delete the default one if required.

Use the + icon to create a profile. This will open a pop-up to name the profile.

You can name the profile after the SAP system you are linking to as it is possible to create additional profiles to link to other SAP systems and this makes it easy to reference in future. Press OK to save the profile.

Under the UI Application tab, change the navigation type to "Local WWWRoot".

Local Application

Then on the "Local Application" tab complete the following fields as per the example below.

Set the Wwwroot Folder as "wwwroot\tctm_wm_base\". This will be relative to the folder the program is stored in.

Enter the URL Prefix for the SAP system you are linking to. This can be found using transaction SICF and should be associated with the default service "tctm_wm" that is provided as part of the initial installation.

Note

If having DNS errors you can replace the first portion of the URL with the IP address for the SAP system.

For the Start Path enter "/index.html". This is stored within the previously mentioned "tctm_wm_base" folder so can be called relatively as well, i.e. without the full file path.

SAP Parameters

On the "SAP Parameters" tab complete the following fields as per the example below.

Choose the relevant dropdown option for your use, in this case, "IM/WM". This will display the appropriate options.

Enter the following information:

  • System ID for the relevant SAP system

  • Client for the relevant SAP system

  • Path: this is the same as the previously mentioned URL Prefix

  • T Code: this is the login logout transaction to be used within that SAP system for PreBilt

  • Message: this is the small message that appears at the top of the Login Screen.

If all settings have been completed correctly you should be able to save your profile and be presented with the login screen. Log in using your SAP username and password. The System and Client at the top of the screen should match the desired system.

Additional system setup

You can add additional profiles for other SAP systems so you can seamlessly swap between systems for different uses. This can be achieved by creating a new profile. You can then swap profiles by selecting the PreBilt icon on the top left and going to Profiles to choose a different profile. This however will only allow you to be in one system at a time.

If you need to be in multiple systems at once (as shown below) for, say, comparison purposes, you will need to have a separate instance of PSE installed for this and the relevant profiles set up on each instance.

This can be achieved either by starting again with the downloaded ZIP file and recompleting the installation or by making a copy of the setup folder and creating a new desktop shortcut for the .exe file within the new folder. Edit the profile of the copied file to match the second SAP system you want to connect to.

Updating frontend code

Sometimes during testing and development, changes need to be made to the frontend code of PreBilt. When this is the case, then generally the frontend code for a particular app will need to be manually updated in each user’s instance of PSE Desktop.
