PreBilt Overview

chevron-rightDoes PreBilt replace the SAP EWM framework?hashtag

No, PreBilt for SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) sits on top of the existing EWM RFUI framework to enhance its capabilities with an intuitive mobile barcode scanning experience.

chevron-rightIs PreBilt an alternative to SAP Fiori for EWM?hashtag

SAP Fiori is designed to be used to complete simple SAP tasks on a desktop such as work approvals and reports, it has not been developed as a mobile solution for barcode scanning. Fiori has limited applications for use with SAP EWM and is unable to convert any custom transactions. PreBilt for EWM is specifically designed to complete EWM transactions on a mobile device and offers UI and functionality benefits over Fiori.

chevron-rightIs PreBilt an alternative to SAP Personas?hashtag

SAP Personas is purely a UI solution for personalising SAP screens, allowing screen designs to be altered to make them more user friendly. It is designed for use with simple SAP transactions that are executed on desktops. Its use for RFUI is only supported from SAP S/4HANA 2021 and in limited use cases for EWM processes. Significant development work is required to customise screens across a range of transactions. PreBilt for EWM is specifically designed for mobile barcode scanning, completing EWM transactions on a mobile device and offers UI and functionality benefits over SAP Personas.

chevron-rightHow are roles/rights propagated to the PreBilt frontend?hashtag

PreBilt leverages the underlying SAP system for user authentication and authorisation. The user ID, along with associated roles and rights, is sourced directly from SAP, eliminating the need for separate maintenance or configuration within PreBilt. As PreBilt uses the standard SAP user credentials, no additional SAP licence fees (such as digital access) are required. Single Sign-On (SSO) is supported for streamlined access. Furthermore, PreBilt operates on SAP’s standard RF execution infrastructure (RFUI), ensuring that standard SAP roles are automatically applied.

chevron-rightHow do we maintain S/4HANA Clean Core Strategy?hashtag

No SAP APIs are required. PreBilt uses the SAP RF infrastructure best practice of creating a custom display profile. PreBilt core logic is added to the two template screens while complying with clean core best practices.

chevron-rightHow are push notifications implemented/ is a new service required?hashtag

SAP standard BAPIs are used for the push notifications functionality; no additional services required.

chevron-rightWhat about the use of standard services for IAM (BTP Cloud Identity Services)?hashtag

We have worked closely with SAP's Product Management team to ensure that PreBilt is fully aligned with and supports the EWM Roadmap. Our recommended approach is to host the UI inside EWM and avoid utilizing BTP. This simplifies infrastructure, improves performance, and reduces additional complexity. Authentication: PreBilt doesn’t use IAM but effectively relies on standard SAP login and supports SSO (Single sign on), if required.

chevron-rightCan you provide a list of example transactions currently supported, along with real-world deployment examples across IM, WM, EWM, SRM, PP, and QM?hashtag

All standard RF transactions are included plus the ability to support custom transactions if they are built using RF best practices which can be found herearrow-up-right.

Functional Capabilities

chevron-rightIt is not always efficient for operators to follow the picking route suggested by SAP EWM. Is there a way for PreBilt to change this?hashtag

We have added specific functionality that enables users to view all the picking tasks and swipe through the screens so they can start on the task of their choice, enabling user-based decisions to optimise SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and increase productivity.

chevron-rightCan PreBilt help with employee engagement?hashtag

PreBilt for EWM offers gamification for SAP EWM, which sees game mechanics added to warehouse tasks. Users can compete against each other in competitions or challenge themselves with ongoing personal development targets, which they can beat to advance to new levels, win trophies and claim rewards. The results are improved employee productivity, motivation and engagement.

chevron-rightDoes the solution include document capture functionality? For example, can users take photos of certificates and automatically attach them to Goods Receipts?hashtag

PreBilt EWM provides image capture functionality, which takes advantage of the SAP image repository or external web link where images are stored. PreBilt can be configured to attach images to a goods receipt or for additional use cases. More detail can be found herearrow-up-right.

chevron-rightCan the system use AI/ML to extract information from captured documents and populate data fields automatically? hashtag

PreBilt offering does not currently include integrated AI/ ML from capture documents as part of the standard software offering. We have previously integrated OCR software within the PreBilt applications custom to customer requirements.

chevron-rightWhat do the standard PreBilt RF screens provide out of the box?hashtag

More information can be found herearrow-up-right.

chevron-rightIs there a best-practice, standard configuration template available for initial setup?hashtag

Yes. We offer a BC set that serves as a template for standard configuration.

chevron-rightHow are screen customisations handled? Are they role based, persona based, or individually configured?hashtag

Individually configured.

chevron-rightCan PreBilt be used to monitor warehouse performance?hashtag

PreBilt can deliver live SAP data as key metrics to help enhance and accelerate decision making. Key metrics can be displayed on transaction screens to provide information that aids and informs the process or task. Key metrics can also be provided as an overview on one screen to allow a holistic view of the current supply chain operation, with all metrics tailored to specific customer needs.

chevron-rightIn PreBilt EWM, how do you control what happens when a user presses F7/Back when exiting a warehouse order?hashtag

PreBilt does not change SAP functions that are already customisable. If you want to remove the Back button, you must do this in SAP standard by editing the Function Code Profile. PreBilt can only enhance what SAP does not expose. You can use PreBilt Message Overrides to pre answer hard coded SAP prompts, such as overriding the “Carry Goods to Destination” prompt to always answer ‘YES’.

Technical & Hardware Considerations

chevron-rightWe operate on SAP RISE, what issues/additional activities may be included as part of a PreBilt Installation?hashtag

PreBilt complies with all required prerequisites for raising an add-on installation request to SAP RISE Private Edition. It is SAP certified, delivered as a TR with comprehensive documentation. No middleware is required, the UI5 sources are maintained as a BSP app in SAP. PreBilt is all SAP centric, so no issues are expected.

chevron-rightDoes the solution work on all mobile devices (iOS, Android, rugged devices, etc.)? If so, why is SAP Fiori not leveraged as the default UX layer?hashtag

Yes, on all Android (OS8 and above) and Apple devices. PreBilt can also be used via your desktop or mobile browser.

chevron-rightCan users download tasks to their device, work offline, and then sync and upload the results when back online?hashtag

The recommended approach is to use online. But we also understand that there are specific environments that may require specific use cases for downloading/storing/processing back to SAP, which the PreBilt solution can cater for but requires customisation.

chevron-rightWhere are documents stored once captured or uploaded? (e.g., SAP DMS, cloud storage, ECM, etc.hashtag

Dependent on customer. Typically, customers hold images in a SAP Image Repository, however, PreBilt is designed to operate flexibly with other storages/ repositories.
