cloud-exclamationOnline, offline, warehouse blackspots

SAP EWM RF execution is designed exclusively for online processing, offline processing is not supported by SAP.

PreBilt supports both online and offline processing.

Online processing is PreBilt’s recommended and default approach. Online processing covers all SAP standard logical transactions as well as custom developed transactions.

For most warehouses, continuous online working is possible in terms of network coverage. However, for rare cases where there are blackspots in the network, PreBilt provides a configurable retry and queuing capabilities allowing the operator to seamlessly continue their work once they connection is resumed.

For unique scenarios where no network is available at all, PreBilt offline support can be enabled. In those cases, PreBilt must be deployed as a device local app allowing the use of the device memory to temporarily store processed data while offline.

Offline processing can be tailored to specific customer requirements. A common scenario includes a “handshake” step during which the client initiates synchronisation with the backend system. Once the synchronisation is completed, the user can proceed with offline task execution. Data is synchronised each time the user returns to the handshake step.

As with online processing, warehouse orders are assigned to individual resources and remain unavailable to other resources until released back to the pool. Multiple resources may work on the same reference document (Outbound delivery order, for example), as long as each warehouse order is unique per resource.

The PreBilt offline UI/UX maintains the same high-level standards as the online experience. The transition between online and offline modes is seamless and transparent to the user.
