Setting the visual length of a parameter

By default, this is calculated when the screen template is published (transaction /TCTM/EWMITSTEMPGEN). This can then be customised to control the length of the field displayed before data is wrapped onto the next row.

The length is calculated by the weighting of the number placed in the field. If two fields exist in a single row, one with a Vis Length of ‘1’ and one with a Vis Length of ‘2’, the former will occupy two thirds of the row and the latter will occupy one third. The screen field length is based on a grid divisible by 12 (so 2,3,4 or 6 fields can be displayed, evenly spaced on screen).

Example

On Screen/Step INSTBI INSTSB, field /SCWM/S_RF_SELECTION-LGPLA is changed from a Vis Length value of ‘1’ to ‘2’ and field /SCWM/S_RF_INQ_ST-SELNO is unchanged with a Vis Length value of ‘1’.

Update the visual length of a field
Storage bin visual length is the same as SELNO
